Website Design for Cupcake Berlin
Cupcake Berlin is a cafe in the heart of bustling and vibrant Berlin. The owners knew the website was in need of a refresh. It hadn’t been revamped since its initial launch. They asked me to come up with a solution that benefits both the business and its clients. This is a project I completed as a freelancing designer in 2016. View Site here
This project does not appear in the UX section of my website, I did this project before I studied UX. I knew a little about UX practices and was starting to incorporate them into my graphic and UI design work. Looking back now I realise at the beginning of this project I was too solutions focused. If I were to do this project now I would spend more time researching and understanding users to find the real problems and dig deeply into those.
My Role:
+ Contextual Inquiry (involved eating cupcakes, best research experience ever)
+ Competitor Analysis
+ Wireframes
+ Prototypes
+ User Testing
+ A complete rebuild of the website using Wordpress
+ Add an online ordering system (e-commerce)
Goal:
The overall goal was to make ordering Cupcakes online possible plus showcase the menu selection for visitors to the Cafe.
Outcome:
Within weeks after the launch of the new website Cupcake Berlin saw an impressive increase in orders and established new customers that they were unable to engage with the prior to the webshop. People from abroad were able to purchase cakes for friends, family and work associates and have them delivered with a personal note. This was an unexpected but welcome new type of customer who continue to be a steady source of income.
